A Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend. I was exhausted when I got home yesterday afternoon. I attended an Ordination ceremony on Saturday and a First Mass Celebration on Sunday. Each of these events was followed by a reception.

A Thunderstorm

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring...
Our first thunderstorm this season. It sounds wet and wild out there. I hope that the power doesn't go off. I'm equipped with a flashlight, candles and matches if it does. We've shut off the TV and have decided to read in 'peace' (except for the thunder, of course). I'm about to read a quilt magazine which arrived yesterday. It's not easy to keep up with magazine articles when you have so much else going on. The TV has been on all day. I'm enjoying the quietness right now inside the house. I'm also glad that I'm not outside with all that weather activity going on. Sandy and Coco are napping. Coco has retired into the bedroom where she's probably hiding from the thunder. She's not as old as her brother and is not as use to storms as he is. When the thunder stops she'll appear again. As long as the lightning strikes are far away, I don't mind the thunder. When they're close by, it's very scary. All the beautiful spring flowers are getting a watering, finally.

Too Much Stuff!

This morning I went down to get the mail. I returned at about 12:00pm. We've had lunch and I'm reviewing the situation, so to speak. I'd like to do something about some of the stuff I have. What can I do without? What can I get rid of? Every so often I have the urge to get rid of stuff. This place is too small and I feel like I have too much stuff. The thing is that all the stuff is useful and I will use it from time to time. I need another person's input into the "stuff" situation. Maybe it could just be rearranged. Help!

First Day For The AC

Today was the first day I gave in and turned on the AC. It was 79 degrees in the house. Since that was getting uncomfortable, I decided to turn on the AC. Tomorrow promises to be in the 90's. We'll definitely need the cooler air in the house for that.
Took Mom for a test today. We have to reschedule it and go another time.
It was another "do nothing" day for me at home. I did check the computer, but didn't do any work on my projects. I guess I need a break from it all.
I'm hoping that the temps in early June will return to the high 70's so that I can walk when we play golf. It's $10 cheaper if we walk; good exercise too.
Tomorrow is a 'free' day. I'm looking forward to it.

A Do Nothing Day

Today I had a yearly doctor appointment. E. was here when I returned home. She had a plan for Mom. We're looking into it. I went to the library and picked up a few books which are due in 2 weeks. Two of them are mysteries and one is a non-fiction book. The fourth book is for Mom. It is written by an author that E. likes. We thought that Mom might enjoy it also. Nothing much else was accomplished today, but that's okay. I deserve a "do nothing" day now and then.

A Pleasant Sunday

Going to church was the highlight of my day today. I've finally gotten to know some of the people in the parish. I never realized what a wonderful difference that would make in my life.
After church I picked up Mom. E had stopped by and left us a lasagna for supper which was much appreciated. Right now we're watching "Miss Marple" on Masterpiece Theater. Both cats are napping. All is right with our world.

Lemons Not Lemonade

Tonight I'm sitting here finally relaxing. I had to cancel Pinochle tonight. I didn't go to the QG meeting yesterday either. Sometimes it's all too much for me. I don't like being busy every minute of every day all the time. When life is going smoothly, without hitches, it's not too bad. But when life gives you lemons it's not so easy to make lemonade.
I watched the LPGA on the Golf channel today. It was interesting but different than the usual tournaments. The final will be tomorrow. I haven't knitted or quilted. I did enjoy the beautiful weather we had today. Sandy and Coco enjoyed looking out the doors at the birds and smelling the fresh spring air.
You may have noticed that I haven't written for awhile. I wasn't in the mood to do that either. Hopefully, I'll be up to doing my usual activities tomorrow.

Rained Out!

Needless to say, we didn't play golf today because it rained here. The day still passed quickly. I did knit 2 more prayer cloths. I'm hoping to knit on Mom's afghan before I retire for the evening. I've been listening to light classical music. I got tired of the Oldies channel.
Tomorrow is a free day for me. I have no commitments so I can stay at home and either knit or make a quilt block. Actually, I'm enjoying the knitting so much, I don't have any desire to quilt at this time. I guess I'll take a break from that craft for awhile.
On Saturday I'm hosting Pinochle here so I'll have some vacuuming and dusting to do before then. On Saturday morning I'm planning to make a carrot cake for my guests to enjoy. I'll need to pick up some soda. I'm going to make iced tea for those who'd prefer that.
I can't believe that the evening is almost over. I still think it's getting late even though I have no time that I need to go to bed. I could stay up as long as I'd like. Although, that would mean that I'd nap through "Morning Joe".

Today

Tonight I knitted 2 prayer cloths, one in white and the other in pale green. I will do a pink and a yellow and a blue. I will hand them in when we meet again. They are given to the care giver with a prayer.
I washed two throws today and did a bit more cleaning. Since it's going to rain tomorrow I'll finish my cleaning instead of going to play golf. I will also spend some time knitting.

What A Day!

Today was a productive day! I started my Sunday like I always do. I went to mass. When I got home I "attacked" the bedroom. All the winter sweaters and summer tee shirts have been put away. The winter sweat suits and jeans are in the Hope Chest. I spent most of the day organizing that room. Tomorrow I will vacuum in there and also dust and replace the doilies which I washed. When that is done I'll clean the Master bathroom and change the shower curtain. I plan to make 1 quilt block which I have to hand in at Friday's meeting and I will continue to knit on Mom's afghan.
When I was done with working on the bedroom today I did knit on Mom's afghan. I will continue to do so as I watch Masterpiece Theater and listen to music before that comes on. I'd like to be finished with her afghan by Thursday evening when I'll be given more yarn to make another Prayer Shawl for the Ministry. I'll be able to give it to Mom for her birthday next month. She's waited a long while for me to finish it.

Another Prayer Shawl Completed

The pink prayer shawl is done. I finished it this afternoon. Now I can get back to working on the one I'm making for Mom. I'm hoping that I'll finish it this coming week because I'll need to start another Prayer Shawl next Thursday when I turn the completed one in. Mom's project is half done already.
The painting will have to wait until tomorrow. I plan to arise early and get started on it. It's so nice to have free time to do hobbies.

A Holy Day of Obligation

The mass tonight was lovely. We had a crowning of the Blessed Mother after the mass. Fr. gave a homily which had a lot of meaning for me. After mass when we said our greetings to him, I told him that I liked his homily. He said, "Thank you". The president of the DOM commented at our meeting afterwards that she thought his homily was excellent as well. He will be our guest speaker for the Communion Breakfast in June. I look forward to hearing him speak again.

Thursday Activities

Got some laundry done today. Took care of some correspondence and spent the afternoon knitting.
Tomorrow I plan to paint on my Rose picture. When I'm tired of doing that, I'll knit some more. After finishing the Rose, I'm going to paint Irises. I love flowers and it seems so much easier to start painting with a subject you like. I'm not ready for landscapes yet. I may never be ready for them. I can see myself doing still life before I attempt a landscape. If only I didn't take such a long break between starting a picture and finishing a picture. It's as if I'm afraid of "messing up" what I've started when the start is a good one. I'll never get done with anything if I used that logic while doing my other hobbies. Knitting is a "no-brainer" for me. Quilting is harder and more complicated. Painting is a real challenge. I guess that my dream is to be really good at doing something and to be recognized for doing it.

One Down, Another To Go...

Sandy finally got his shots today. Another thing down and checked off the "To Do" list. The next important thing to "see" to is getting the car serviced. It needs an oil change and a tire rotation.
Tomorrow is a HDOO. I will attend mass and go to the DOM meeting afterwards. We're having an ice cream social.
I did manage to knit on the PS yesterday and will do so tomorrow. I'd like to finish the shawl before our next meeting which is on the 20th. Hopefully, if Coco can find another spot to nap besides my lap, I'll be able to knit tonight also.

Another 18 Holes

L. and I played another 18 holes of golf today. The temps were cooler than the last time and there was a breeze. It felt good to be out there. I skipped one hole because I was tired and my swing was off. After that I was right in the "swing" again. I got home about an hour ago and had soup and saltines for lunch. I will cook a proper supper around 6:00pm. I will knit for awhile until then.
Tonight there are 3 TV programs on which I enjoy watching. NCIS, NCIS Los Angelas, and The Good Wife. I will continue my knitting as I watch those programs.

A Nice Day

We had a very nice day yesterday. Mom also remarked that it was a very nice day which was important. We decided to get take out from a local Italian restaurant and that way none of us had to cook. We did prepare strawberry shortcake for dessert which is a favorite of Mom's at this time of year. This morning we ate the left over strawberries in our cereal.
I arrived home early this afternoon. Tomorrow we will play golf again. Our goal is to walk for all 18 holes. The temps will be cooler than the last time we went out, but I will still wear suntan lotion on my neck, arms and face. I'm hoping that I can get a good night's sleep tonight. It's not easy to accomplish anything when you're sleep deprived.
Sandy gets his shots this week. My car gets an oil change and I've decided to spend Friday painting. The rose I started some time ago is waiting to be finished. I will attempt to do so. Wish me luck.

Happy Mother's Day, Tomorrow

Have a very Happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all my faithful readers. I'm reading at church and will then head to Mom's to wish her a Happy Mother's Day. I hope that you all get the chance to enjoy the day with your families.
I've been busy all day today. Did some shopping for Mother's Day, did some straightening up in the bedroom and got a lot of knitting done on the Prayer Shawl I'm working on. We won't meet again for two weeks and I want to have this one done by the next time we meet. I'm on a roll. Someone in the parish donated more of the yarn I like to use. I was told that that will be my next project. The yarn is a pretty blue variegated yarn but not the same color blue as the other one I did. This one is called Windsor. The other one was called Waterfall. I'm on the lookout for the same type of yarn in a yellow. I saw someone working on it when I went to the retreat. It was beautiful, also.
It's time for me to call it a day. Good night, dear friends.

Friday Already!

Finally was able to get my hair done. I feel like a "new" woman. The cleaning detail will be easy this weekend. I only have the bedroom left to straighten and dust. Can't wait until that's done.
Sunday is Mother's Day; so naturally, I will be spending the day with Mom. E. and D. are suppose to visit as well. We also invited E.W. to join us. It'll be a party.

Home

Yesterday I headed down to the shore to visit Mom. We made some final arrangements for some work at her home and I decided to stay over night. Today I went food shopping for her. The cable guy had to come back again because there was a problem with the phone and the internet. Everything's back to normal now. I left at about 2:30pm and am now happily at home watching the news.

A Day Of Fun

Today it was my turn to host MJ. I did manage to win one game which makes it all worth while.
I just returned a few minutes ago from the Prayer Shawl Ministry meeting. It was a productive night. A few people donated more yarn for our ministry and we were given enough to complete an entire project. One of the yarns donated was the type I like to use so they're going to save it for my next project. I really love "my" Homespun yarns.

MJ Tomorrow

This morning I went to the Guild board meeting. Returned home at about 2pm. I washed 3 floors when I got home. Tomorrow I'll vacuum again before the MJ group arrives. I'll also make some Brownies for dessert. If I have time I'll make some scones for when we have tea and coffee. I decided not to buy nibbley snacks like nuts and chips. Everyone comes with their own lunch so we'll just have dessert after we eat. I'm starting a new trend for our MJ group. After MJ is over for the day I'll knit with the PSM. I'm looking forward to that. It's been a couple of weeks since we've gotten together.

Another Lazy Afternoon

I'm waiting for the rain to start hoping it will cool us off for overnight. The house is starting to get warm. It got up to 88 degrees, the weather person reported. Thank goodness it wasn't humid.
It was a lazy afternoon around here. I watched some golf and saw a 20 year old named Rory McIlroy win the tournament in Charlotte. It was at the Quail Hollow Golf Club. He will be 21 in about 2 days. It was great watching him play.
I'm looking forward to watching Masterpiece Theater later this evening. I'm told that" Foley's War" is going to be the Mystery tonight.
I have a guild board meeting tomorrow which shouldn't last very long. Afterward I will pick up a few snacks for Tuesday's MJ game which will be here. I will also vacuum and dust again for the occasion. I'm hoping that it won't be as warm on Tuesday so that my guests won't complain of the heat. I'm resisting putting on the AC.
Sandy and Coco have done a lot of napping today. Surprisingly, I didn't! I thought for sure that the heat would put me to sleep while watching the golf. Until the mystery comes on I'm listening to the Solid Gold Oldies channel. Good music which brings back fond memories.

Another Warm Day

Went to get an MRI this morning. I'm glad that is over with, hopefully, everything will be okay.
Yesterday was a marathon day. I left here at 8:15am and didn't return home until 9:30pm. I went to bed shortly after I got home. I feel that I got a good night's sleep for a change.
Today I will do some laundry and clean a bit. I have 2 days to get everything done before I host MJ.
It's warm again today. I have 2 doors opened and the DR fan on. It doesn't feel too bad in here. I'm hoping that I don't need AC for another month or so. I don't feel like having that bill to pay for so soon.
If there is golf on later I will turn it on. If not, I'll probably just listen to music. It should be a great day.
