March Goes Out Like A Lamb

Went out early this morning to get the paper and to pick up my taxes.
I found a pair of 'off white' heels which I can wear with my suit on Easter so that eliminates the need to buy a pair of shoes tomorrow. I'm thankful for that. I just need to pick the suit up from the cleaners. I'll do that tomorrow some time.
Today is the last day of March. The sun is shining and there is a breeze. It's not that warm, but promises to be so tomorrow.

Good Weather Is On The Way

We played MJ today. I won 2 games with the new card. I like the new card better than the old card. The gals were very chatty today. I find that when I'm playing I need to concentrate. Talking breaks my concentration. When I arrived home I wrote some bills out. Will get a few out in tomorrow's mail. Next Tuesday I'm hosting MJ here. I plan to clean the kitchen thoroughly tomorrow so I'll have one less room to do on Monday. On Friday I can do another room. Saturday is a food prep day and of course Sunday is Easter. On Thursday I'm meeting a friend for lunch. We had planned lunch three times this past winter and got snowed out. It's going to be warm and sunny on Thursday so hopefully we'll be able to get together.

Bits and Pieces

Just tied up loose ends today. Went to the library, made a few phone calls, and picked up the paper. E. came over this afternoon for a visit. Did a bit of straightening up and some vacuuming. I'll dust the LR after supper. I don't think that there is anything worth watching on the tube tonight. I'll probably do some more knitting. Tomorrow I play MJ. Haven't played in quite a while. I hope that I can win a game or two.

Palm Sunday

This morning I went to the Palm Sunday Service at my church. It was a nice service. When I returned home I got breakfast for Mom. E. came over for a visit this afternoon. Nothing much else has transpired today.

Saturday Morning

Mom and I have been up for 2 hours already. We've had breakfast, and I'm all dressed for today's activities. Later this morning I'll attend a retreat for folks who participate in the prayer shawl ministry. There are 7 of us from our group attending. I'm looking forward to the day. E. will visit with Mom while I'm away.
Today will require a winter coat again. Tomorrow will be a bit warmer. I'll put up with winter coats and gloves again as long as it will be a beautiful Easter. Please, please, please be a beautiful Easter. I hate rain on that day!! I hate snow on that day!! I want a sunny day.

Friday, Friday

This morning I went down to get the mail. Mission accomplished. We've had lunch. I've prepared a few things for tomorrow. In a short while I'll vacuum the LR/DR. It's that time again. The sun has come out. It is not raining like they predicted. I'm happy about that. We're listening to the Light Classical channel on the tube. It's quite beautiful and very relaxing. The cats have been walking around since I returned home. I'm waiting for them to settle some where for the remainder of the afternoon. I'm too restless to knit this afternoon so cleaning will occupy my afternoon. Some days you are actually in the mood to do that. Although, it still is not high on my list of favorite things to do. Anyway, I'd better get to it.

A Quick Day

The grass is getting greener each day. Pretty soon we'll be hearing the hum of the lawn mower because it'll be time to cut the grass every week. It's so nice to see the trees starting to get leaves. I can't wait until the weather gets less chilly permanently. I don't think I'll mind rain showers if the temps are warmer. I'm ready for sunshine for a stretch of time and rain occasionally.
This morning I went to the dentist. I'm so glad that experience is over. I have another appointment in a few weeks. The dentist promised that the next visit will be easier.
We're watching the evening news right now. I'll get supper in a little while. Hoping I can get the DVD and the TV to show the movie I got from the library. The DVD works, but I can't get the picture on the tube. I know I'm doing something wrong because it's suppose to be hooked up. Keep your fingers crossed!!

A Busy Day So Far

The minutes from last Friday's meeting were done by 1pm today. This morning I did the food shopping. I have some straightening up to do this afternoon then I will knit for awhile.
Tomorrow morning I have a dental appointment which will last for about an hour. I'm happy that I'm doing that early in the day so it doesn't ruin my entire day. As you can tell, I'm not fond of going to the dentist.
As I look out my window I can see that the Forsythia across the yard is starting to get flowers on it. Some of the ornamental trees are also starting to bud. It's a bit windy today. I can tell because the pine trees are swaying in the wind. I didn't have the chance to go for a walk yet today. I will do so before it gets dark. I'm sure that doing so will make me feel good.

Not Much Done Today

It's another overcast, rainy day. Not to worry, tomorrow promises to be sunny. I was out briefly this morning when I went to the cleaners, the bank and picked up the newspaper. It was a bit chilly, but so much better than it was a few weeks ago. I didn't mind. Today I need to type the minutes from Friday's guild meeting. I will probably knit for awhile also.

A Nice Easter, Please

It rained today but I didn't mind because we had such a nice weekend. It may also rain tomorrow but promises to be nice again on Wednesday. I'm hoping for a sunny spring with just enough rain to water the flowers and the lawns and to fill the resevoirs. I'd like sunshine for the rest of the spring season. From my mouth to God's ears. Wouldn't it be nice to get weather to order. I got an email today telling me that it might snow on Easter or near Easter. I hope that's not the case. I'd like a warm 70 degree day on Easter Sunday. I'm ordering a nice day for Easter Sunday.

A Beautiful Sunday

Today was another beautiful day. I went to church where I was a lector at the mass I attended. When I arrived home, I changed my clothes and went for a walk. The sun was warm as I walked. There were many people out walking in my neighborhood. Everyone who passed said "hello, isn't it a beautiful day?" To which the obvious reply was "Yes, it is." I felt better after having gone for a walk. I need to do that every day when the weather is dry. E. came over for a visit today. The afternoon went quickly. I invited her to stay for supper which she did. We've been watching the tube since she left.

Beautiful First Day Of Spring!

Today's weather was fantastic! It hit the 70's on this first day of spring. I rode down the shore this morning and had my car windows opened. When I returned home I opened up both doors and was in the mood to start spring cleaning. I washes 3 floors and my master bath. I also took the winter pictures down off the walls in the living room and replaced them with 2 more colorful impressionistic pictures. One is a Degas and the other is a Renoir. I also hung 2 Victorian Era pictures. One of the pictures is of a concert where people are even sitting on the stairs to listen to the music being played. The other is a picture of a dance where the ladies are wearing gowns and the gents are wearing tails. It looks like the dance is taking place in a large ballroom. I changed the pictures in the dining room/library also. I rehung the equestrian pictures and may rehang the riding hats and the crops
Tomorrow I am a Lector at mass in the morning. I'm hoping to go for a walk after church. I will open both doors again when I return from my walk, and vacuum and dust the living room/dining room area. On Monday I'll do the kitchen floor and thoroughly clean the kitchen. That's the plan. I hope I can get those things done. In the evening I'll knit on my pink prayer shawl.
The beautiful weather was so inspiring!!! I was a bit sleepy before I started to clean because my cat annoyed me all night long trying to get me out of bed. I very reluctantly started sweeping and I got hooked on the prospect of what things would look like when I got done cleaning. The beautiful weather was a motivating factor for me.

A Beautiful Day Today!

Happy St. Joseph's Day! I had a bit of running around to do today. This morning was our Quilt Guild meeting which I attended. I took the minutes of the meeting and left when the meeting was over. I went home and got lunch for Mom then went to the library to pick up a DVD and to return some items. I had another stop to make and then I picked up something without meat for supper. After supper I went to church for the Stations of the Cross. It was done differently tonight. Some of the teens of the parish recited the stations. They did a nice job. We were allowed to remain seated which was a break for my legs. I really got a workout the last time. (stand, genuflect, stand, kneel and stand again) If you have ever attended you know the routine. It is a very spiritual experience. If you're not out of shape it's easy. If you are, it's a good workout.

Beautiful Day

This morning I took Mom's car for the oil change. They also did some other work on the car. I went to do this so early, that when I got home, I laid down on the bed again and slept another hour and a half. E. came over for awhile. I made iced tea which she likes. We chatted for awhile. Be the time she left it was time for supper. Leftovers were on the menu. I like leftovers! Not much preparation, only warming up the food.
Spoke to two friends on the phone today and I did knit for a bit on the prayer shawl I'm knitting in a variegated pink yarn. After the news I'll head to the shower and get into my pj's. I'll resume knitting afterward until it's time for bed.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

It was a beautiful weather day today! I went to my dental appointment this morning. Need to go back next week and one other time for some work. We watched some of the St. Patrick's Day parade in NYC on the tube. Made corned beef and cabbage for supper. The Irish Soda bread
was great.
Tomorrow I have to take Mom's car for an oil change first thing in the morning. There's always something!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

It'll Be Pink

My next project will be pink!!! I was given the variegated yarn in pinks from which I will make a Prayer Shawl.
Our meeting was very interesting tonight. We had a lot to talk about.
Tomorrow morning I have a dental appointment and I have a different appointment at 1:00pm. I guess I won't get too much time to see the St. Patrick's Day parade on tv.
I'm making corned beef and cabbage and potatoes for supper. That's one of Mom's favorite meals.
I was invited to a friend's home tomorrow evening. I will bring my pink project and knit if there's time.
The sun will shine tomorrow. That's so much better than rain or snow falling.

A Meeting Tonight

Today I went to get the mail and also did some laundry. I have a meeting tonight of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. I'll be starting another project tonight. I'm not sure if I'll be doing something blue or if I'll be doing something pink. It depends on what is available in our stash at the church. If there's not enough pink, I'll use the blue which I own for another lap blanket. If the pink is in good supply, I'll make another shawl. I love all the different colors available. I'm not too fond of earth colors although I know that others like them so I do knit with them from time to time. The lap blanket I just finished is in that palette. I will hand in the left over yarn from my lap blanket and perhaps someone else can use it some time. I enjoy the group. All of the ladies are very nice and quite talented. In a couple of weeks we're going to an all day retreat for people who participate in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. It sounds like it will be very nice. I'm looking forward to that day.

Sunshine

Hopefully, today was the last of the rainy days for a long while. I did some grocery shopping today. E. came over for a visit. I also knitted two prayer cloths. The day flew by.
Tomorrow is a MJ day, but I may not be able to play. I have some other things that I need to do. I'm looking forward to the sunshine which is promised to come our way. Here's to a great day tomorrow.

To Go Or Not To Go

Tonight I made 2 prayer cloths. It's the time of night where I start making mistakes so I'm calling it quits for the day. I'll make a couple more tomorrow. I'm doing laundry tomorrow and will bring my knitting along to keep me busy while I wait for the laundry to be done. I just hope that doing the laundry won't take all afternoon. Of course, if it continues to rain tomorrow, the laundry will have to wait until another day. There's too much flooding around to take the chance of traveling a long way to pick up the mail and do the laundry. So, tomorrow may be another day at home. I suppose I'll find out what my plans are in the morning.

A Relaxing Day

The rain has tapered off a bit. I drove to church and was lucky not to encounter any flooding. It started to thunder and lightning when I was in church but that soon subsided as well. I picked up the Sunday paper for Mom. After church I got a call from my sister. It seems that she and her husband had no power since 4:00pm the day before. They were told that the power may be on by Tuesday. That's not something you want to hear when you need to cook, and shower. You end up reading by candlelight or with a flashlight because there's no tv to entertain you. At least that's what they did. I welcomed them over to use our shower. E. stayed for awhile and chatted. We had a nice visit.
Now it's time for me to knit some prayer cloths so I have some for our meeting this week. I'm hoping that I can get two or three done this evening and I'll do two more tomorrow.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Today was a cleaning and straightening day for me. It poured outside all day so I stayed inside. I did go out briefly to the corner store for a newspaper and also to the mailbox to get the mail. I didn't spend any time knitting yet today, but will get to that shortly. There are a few things I'd like to do in the cleaning department tomorrow after I return from church. I will also knit some prayer cloths so they'll be ready for our meeting on Tuesday. I'd like to read one of my books for awhile tomorrow. I'll pick up the Sunday paper for Mom. tomorrow will also be rainy. I think I'll wait until Monday to pick up the mail.

Doctor Visits

We had a trip to the doctor this morning. It was exhausting to manuever the whole experience. In a few weeks we'll go to have some tests done. Thankfully, all the tests will be done on the same day. One trip to the facility and one trip home again. There is one other doctor appointment before the tests and then a visit to the prescribing doctor again after the tests to get the results. Somewhere amid all Mom's appointments, I have to make one of my own. I'm tired just thinking about it all. Time to change the subject I think.
We're watching the "Dog Whisperer". He is very talented. I can't help thinking that if I had a dog like some of those, I'd put them up for adoption. Cats are so much easier, for me, at least.

Wrapped In Red

Tonight was the Wrapped in Red night. It was a lot of fun. There were many funny moments. The auction consisted of gifts donated by the members of the DOM. It was unbelieveable to me how much some people bid on the gifts. I sat on my hands (so to speak) and didn't bid on anything. I did donate a gift worth $45. It was bought by someone at my table. I couldn't tell if she liked it because she spoke in Spanish to the person next to her when she opened it. Maybe she'll give it to Sister for her birthday which is coming up on Saturday. Sister seemed to like it. Our pastor and the Deacon were the auctioneers. They did a great job. If my ship comes in before the next WIR night, I'll be able to bid the next time.

A Great Program

This afternoon I experienced a new language program on the computer. It was the Rosetta Stone for the French language. I started Level 1 today. I completed lesson one. That was a review. It took about one hour to do lesson one. Tomorrow I will do lesson two. That should also be a review for me. There are four lessons to do in Level 1. After that, it's on to Level 2. The time flew while I was doing the lesson. It was a lot of fun. The hardest part for me was the pronunciation of 'ecrit'. The program didn't like my pronunciation and I couldn't continue until I got it right. Some day, after I master the French language (finally), I'd like to purchase the Rosetta Stone for the Italian language. I think that it's a good way for me to learn languages. I can go at my own speed and I can repeat any lesson I need to repeat.
I also spent two sessions knitting today and will get in another session this evening.
A friend of mine called from Florida this afternoon. We had a nice chat. It's always good to hear from friends you don't get to spend time with often. I look forward to emails from friends also because that keeps me current on the news in everyone's life.
Well, I think I'll get back to the knitting.

Another Terrific Day

It's another beautiful day today. I drove to the shore to check on things. I had the car window opened as I drove. The air smelled fresh and wonderful. When I returned home we had lunch. After lunch I knitted up a storm. We've just had supper. Now I'm ready to knit up a storm again. I'll check in later.

Plans

Tomorrow should be another nice day. It will be a tease of days to come. I hope to take a walk after I watch my favorite morning show. When I return home I'll do the daily straightening up. After doing that I'll get back to my knitting. I may even read for awhile. I will let the rest of the day unfold as it may.

A Touch Of Spring

This evening I attended a poetry reading with a friend. The poet read some of her own poems. I enjoyed the poems she read. A few of them "hit home" with me. Since we arrived in the town early, we stopped for a light supper before the event. The weather was beautiful. It was nice to walk and enjoy the "promise of spring to come" weather. People were outside most likely glad that old man winter had taken a break and let a touch of spring come our way.

Nice Day

Got back from the quilt show a little while ago. We sold tickets for our guild's raffle quilt. Many people stopped by and admired our quilts. Most bought a few tickets. We have a first prize quilt and a second prize quilt. The second prize quilt would go great in my living room. I do love the first prize quilt but would be happy with the second prize.
It was another beautiful weather day today. I wore a light jacket when I went out to church and out to the quilt show. Tomorrow and the next day will be equally as nice. March is coming in like a lamb. I hope that the lion stays away.

Beauty All Around

Earlier this evening was an evening devoted to beauty, or should I say beautifying. It's time to take the winter pictures out of the LR and to put them back in the hall. The other pictures will be hung in there place. Lately I've been tripping over them in the spare room. I'm looking forward to getting some color back into the room.
I also spent some time on personal beautifying. Used all the creams and lotions that they claim make us our personal best. I also did my nails and my hair. I even took out what I'll wear tomorrow. You see, after church, a friend and I are going to a Quilt Show. We have to sell raffle tickets for the guild's quilt. I'm hoping that we have time to walk around the show and to see the work that's on display. It's always inspiring to see what others have quilted. After a quilt show you feel like going right home and sitting at the sewing machine. What's going to keep me from doing that? We'll see.

Oh, What A Beautiful Day!

What a beautiful day it's turned out to be. Temps in the 50's and they will be so all weekend. Most of the snow has melted outside the house. There are still patches of snow here and there. I was able to take the garbage out without a coat this morning. Can't wait until I can shed that outer garment for the season.
I didn't accomplish too much today. I did clean which seems to be something that is needed to do every day in some form or another. I'm waiting for supper to be done and cleaned up before I start that project. I must finish tonight. Time's a wasting! I have other things to do. Knit, Knit Knit until I'm done.

Is Spring On It's Way?

We're promised a nice weather weekend. We deserve it after the winter we've been through. I just hope that old man winter doesn't return until next year.
There's nothing special on the agenda for the weekend. I suppose that the usual cleaning chores will take up some time. Since it'll be nice out I may go for a walk for awhile. Knitting will take up some of my time for the day. I'll let the rest of the day unfold as it may.

What Makes One So Tired?

Went grocery shopping this morning. Stopped at the library to pick up the CD's and the book I ordered. When I arrived home I gave Mom a pedicure. I felt especially tired today. I decided to take a multi-vitamin and a calcium tablet. In a little while I was feeling better. The nap I took in the chair I was sitting in was a help also. I did knit a bit and will definetly finish the lap blanket tonight. I want to knit prayer cloths for the next few days. Our ministry is in need of some more of those. On Monday night I'll cast on the stitches for the next project so I'll be well on my way to having something to work on when we meet again on Tuesday. Tonight we'll probably watch the "Dog Whisperer" on tv. Mom enjoys that show. I'm hoping to get more knitting done so I'd better get started.

Up And Running Again

It's up and running again. Not being able to use this computer did give me time to learn how to use my BB. I've entered all my contacts, finally and even sent a few emails. It's a lot slower punching keys with one finger than it is using both hands on a regulation size keyboard. I guess it'll take some getting use to.
I did get the mail yesterday and got some more knitting done. Today I start a new lap blanket. I have a few errands to run first. We're watching our favorite morning program right now. It's a great start to the day!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Knit, Knit, Knit

All I did today was knit. Knit, knit, knit. I only have a couple more inches to knit and I'll be done with the lap blanket. It will be on to the next lap blanket after that. Before I finish the project I'll go get Mom's mail. I hope that it came today. I don't want to make the trip for nothing.

A Meeting At Church

Tonight was the Prayer Shawl Ministry Meeting at church. The women who participate in this ministry are wonderful. Some of the women are older and are very talented in knitting and crochet. One of the members has promised to teach me how to crochet. I will take her up on that after I finish my knitting projects. Six of us in the group will attend a retreat in a couple of weeks for those who participate in the prayer shawl ministry. It ought to be a nice day. I look forward to spending time with them and getting to know them a little better.

A Good Report

This morning I went to the doctor. Everything is fine. I got a good report. Don't need to see him again for 6 months. I'll have a routine test next month which I have to have periodically. That's the good news.
I'm free for the rest of the afternoon. I will probably knit for awhile as tonight the Prayer Shawl ministry meets. I look forward to going.

Monday, March 1, 2010

Where Did The Day Go?

What did I do today? Not much. Took the books back to the library. Bought the newspaper and a few birthday cards. Did some laundry. Read my tome for awhile. I did watch my favorite morning program and the news at noon. Am now watching the evening news. I may knit for awhile later.
Tomorrow is our Prayer Shawl ministry meeting. I also have a doctor appointment in the morning. I hope there is no inclement weather tomorrow evening. It seems that every Tuesday evening this winter has been wet. I'll miss the MJ game tomorrow because I can't be in two places at once. Hopefully, I'll get to play the next time.
