I'll Miss Him

Over the past weekend, one of my favorite news people passed away. Tim Russert was my favorite. I enjoyed his repartee with other pundits who shared his religion. He would tease them by saying things like, "Look at those two altar boys over there." Recently he told Mike Barnicle and Pat Buchanan that if a priest came out and saw that they were going to be the altar boys, he'd go back into the sacristy. He was a devote Catholic which I admire. He wasn't afraid of letting everyone know it on nation wide television either. He warmed my heart every time he kidded in this way. That gave me a connection with him. I understood the kidding because I too was educated by the nuns. I have always said that there are two things I will never give up in my life, one is my citizenship and the other is my religion. I know he felt the same way about that. I'll miss him on "Meet The Press" every Sunday. I'll miss his sense of humor, his smile and his twinkling eyes. I know he's up in heaven. I guess that God needed him now. May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.
