I Need A Topic

Thinking of something to write about is not always an easy task. I've hit a dry spell lately. I haven't watched the news tonight. Sometimes I can get an idea from listening or watching. It's a bit strange when you feel like writing and you have nothing to say. I imagine that an artist feels the same way when he or she is handed a blank canvas. There must be days when the canvas remains bare. My mother, an amateur artist, always said that art is more perspiration than inspiration. Writing becomes a chore without an idea. I remember how hard it was for some of my students to get an idea for a story. I used to tell them to just write anything and an idea will come. That does work sometimes. Other times are just like I'm experiencing now. There's much said about nothing much.
