Another Book To Read

Went to the library yesterday and got out a book called, "Happy for No Reason" by Marci Shimoff. It's non-fiction. I'm reading it in between reading a novel I've started and doing other things in my day. The author has good ideas and explains them well. What I've gotten out of it so far is that being happy for no reason lasts longer than being happy for a reason. Seems to make sense. I was in the pursuit of happiness by being overly busy for awhile. That didn't bring me happiness, but brought exhaustion and frustration. Now that I've eliminated some of my activities and life is less franetic I feel more calm and peaceful then I have felt in some time. The simple pleasures of the day are what make me happy when I'm home. A good cup of coffee in the morning for instance, a spot of tea in the afternoon. Having Sandy crawl up into my lap from time to time to be held and petted. Listening to music while I read or do chores. Getting a friendly email or a phone call from a friend which I wasn't expecting. I don't feel like I need to read "Happy for No Reason", but it has confirmed some of the thoughts I've had on the subject of happiness, peacefulness and contentment. For someone who is struggling with finding happiness in every day living, I'd say it is a "must read".
